Group meeting, 13th September.
We have decided that we are going to do brief 7 from the advanced
portfolio in media. This brief includes an extract from an original documentary
TV program, lasting approximately five minutes as well as two of the 3 options.
1.
A radio trailer for the documentary.
2.
A double page spread from a listings magazine
focused on the documentary.
3.
A newspaper advertisement for the documentary.
As a group we have decided to do two and three and have
assigned the jobs that we are going to complete.
Ruth – newspaper advertisement and research and analysis of
other articles.
Marie – double page spread and research and analysis of
other spreads.
Ellie – Listing of possible documentary that we could watch
that would give us ideas of what to do. As well as planning the filming.
We decided to create a documentary series on the history of the
Isle of Man and have named it The History of Mann. Ellie researched the
documentaries that have already been done on this and we are going to watch them
and take notes and from there we will be able to see what topics we would be
able to cover in our series as well as giving us some ideas as to what we could
use as our five minuet extract.
Group meeting, 11th October.
We are watching the Curiosity’s of the Isle of Man. A
Documentary that we are going to take notes on and are going to see which areas
of Manx history we could cover in this series. As well as camera angles and mise en scene.
Ruth’s Notes
Marie’s Notes
Ellie’s Notes.
We have decided that we are going to cover these 7 topics in
our documentary series.
1.
Historical Manx Sites
2.
Manx Government and Finance
3.
Manx Tragedies
4.
The Vikings
5.
The T.T
6.
Farming and Agriculture
7.
Isle of Man in the World Wars
This means that I will have to feature these in our
double page spread and Ruth will have to show them in our advert. Ellie has
begun planning of filming by choosing the locations as well as researching
images that we could use in the five minuet clip. Our five minuet clip is about
the Manx cholera epidemic in 1832. We are going to feature the grave stone of a
woman called Nellie Brennan who was known as the Cholera nurse and we are going
to briefly look at what she did as well as look at the mass graves that we have
on the island and the basic symptoms of cholera. We plan to include death
figures as well as images of lower Douglas at that time and explain how it spread
so rapidly.
