My paper has a NAME!

So after a major brain storm I failed to come up with a name, however I was looking back over my blog and suddenly through a click I have a name. Its 'Ip' which stands for 'Island Paper' or 'Island Press' I haven't quite decided yet. Once showed it to a few people I became aware that it could have other meanings such as 'Independent Paper' and 'IP address' which is not necessarily a bad thing as many people remember things through association.
This means that all the work I have done on working on a font for my masthead is no longer relevant so I will  re post it again but instead I will use it for the fonts of my main text not the masthead. With such a short name I am able create what affectingly is a logo for my paper, Something similar to the 'i'.
The logo is going to look something like this;

I know that it wont be in this font but this is my general idea. My making the 'i' considerably bigger it means that I am able to over emphasize the importance of it and this is something that looks effective and is eye catching and easy to remember, there are not many people who can't remember 2 letters.

The idea of the layout of the paper is columns so I have put together a quick draft of how the front page is going to look.

This is going to be the general layout for the front cover of my paper. The proportions my chance slightly but  from looking at some papers this seems to be effective, obviously adverts have to be on the front page as this makes a lot of profit, usually unless it is a massive headline it is on the lower half or near the lower half of the paper with ones like 'The Sun', 'The Star' and 'The Daily Mail'.
I am defiantly going to put the 'Ip' in colour and a different font which will make it sound out and this is something I have to do as it is going to be a new paper and it has to make a statement otherwise no one is even going to look at it on the shelf.

Now that I have a name and a potential layout for my paper I can move forward which is what I am really looking forward to. In my previous post I was discussing potential stories for the front page and now I can see how I am going to lay it out. There will be multiple drafts and layouts of the cover before it is finalized and this will be the same for when I do the second page as well. With the internet pages I will do those after and by then I will have figured out an overall theme and house style for the paper that I will be able to incorporate into it.
