Name Ideas and Mast Head.

The name of my paper has to be something short, catchy and related to the Manx theme. So far my ideas are...

• EV - Ellen Vannin 
• MI - Manx Independence 

Although these are the only two I have come up with so far I think that they are really appropriate when sticking with the Manx Theme. I am going to have a bit more of a brain storm on ideas but I would like to keep it relatively short as that appeals more to my target audience than a long name would. 

For my mast head and house theme I am thinking using a modern font would be the best way to go, the more modern the more my target audience are going to be attracted to it. These are some ideas of font for my masthead; 

This font is from Microsoft Publisher and is called 'Batang'. I think that it gives a professional clean cut and it is quite modern. The thickness is something that I have an issue with. It is very thin and I have messed around with it and it wont get any thicker. With a thin font there is always the potential risk that certain people are going to be unable to see it clearly  and this is something that I will take every precaution to prevent as there is no point in me spending a lot of time and effort into making it look really good when some readers will have issues reading it. 

This font was also taken from Microsoft Publisher and is called 'Malgun Gothic'. I think that this one is a much thicker font which is a good thing however I think that it does look a little bit to informal for a newspaper heading. 

This font is 'MS PGothic' it was taken from Microsoft Publisher. I think that this font is much more formal and it has the modern edge that I am looking for. This is a contender for my Newspaper title.

This font is called 'Angsana UPC' which was taken from Microsoft Publisher. This font almost has like fuzzy look to it which is something that I am not sure would have the right effect on my paper. Although I do really like this it is also a small font, this is written is size 48 and as you can see is much smaller than the rest of the other text tests. I think that is one in inappropriate for a newspaper.

This font is called 'Perpetua Titling MT' it was taken from Microsoft Publisher. This font is one that I really like however the only downfall is that it doesn't have a lower case everything is in capital letters. Although I want the masthead to grab the attention of my readers to me having a name is capitals just looks like you are shouting at the readers. This is something that I don't want people to think this and this is why I am going to carry on looking for another font.

This font is called 'Microsoft PhagsPa' and it was taken from Microsoft Publisher. This font is exactly what I am looking for in a font. It is formal and appropriate for a Newspaper heading but is also relaxed enough to give the modern feel. This is the font that I plan to use on the mast head of the paper.
