Recreating my logo

This is my current logo, it looks alright but it could cause confusion as some people who have seen it thought that it looked like 1p, and I can't have any confusion. So I am creating a whole new logo but I am still keeping the theme of IP.

I am starting by selecting a font for the 'I' I went though about 5 or 6 different fonts before I chose the one I plan to use which is called ' Perpetua Titling MT' I set the font size at 150 for now so that it is nice and big and clear for me to see while I am adjusting everything.

I went thought 7 fonts for the 'P' before I chose '@Microsoft JhengHei' and I set the font size at 150 again but the 'I' and the 'P' were different sizes due to the different fonts so I made the 'I' slightly bigger because it means Independent and that is an important.

I decided that this time I should go for a slightly darker red, the red that I used on my previous logo was a little too bright. It was almost a little bit sore on the eyes, I think that the darker red is still eye catching but a little bit more subtle which makes it appear more balanced.

I was experimenting with the idea of putting the price inside the logo box, that way people instantly know which paper it is and how much it is as well. To make it stand out more I put it as a black triangle with white text but in order for this to fit it with the theme of the logo I had to make the outline of the logo thicker from 1pt to 6pt to make the logo as a whole work.

The font within the logo did not work at its current size, I felt that they was too much space around them and that is the reason that I chose to try and make them both the same font size of 170, but it did not work.

I made the box slightly smaller so that there is less space and I changed the size of the letters so that the 'I' is 170 and the 'P' is 150.
I have altered the font in side the price box so that it is slightly bigger so it is more noticeable.

This is my new logo that I plan to use on everything that the paper would publish. I have removed the price tag and made it a little bit smaller because because I have removed the price tag so the space it was using needed to be removed and the shape changed. I wanted to change the shape because on the publications such as the website there is no need for the logo to be a rectangle shape because it does not need to sit in the third of the page.

This is the logo that I will use on the paper its self, I am able to adjust the length so that it will fit in the third better and I am undecided as to were I am going to put the date of issue, but once I have created the new front cover as the current one is not very good but I just wanted to get a quick draft done. I have found several areas that need improve, and I have started with changing the logo but I have to change the layout, the stories and adverts and the images that have been used.
